The Oxnard Police Detention Facility, frequently referred to as the "Oxnard Jail," is where the bulk of individuals arrested by Oxnard officers are delivered for booking from the field. The facility includes 8 holding cells, two interview spaces and a booking area. Each holding cell is geared up with a wash basin and commode. The entire area is under recorded video and audio security and is staffed by Police Service Officers (PSO) 24 hours-a-day. As soon as officers complete preliminary booking documents on individuals taken into custody, the PSO assumes control of the arrestee and complete the booking procedure that consists of pictures, fingerprints, and release or transfer transportation. Arrestees that are not moved from the Oxnard Detention Facility by method of citation, own recognizance (O.R.) or bail are transferred by PSOs to the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility (also known as the Ventura County "Main Jail"). Since Oxnard does not offer meals or sleeping areas, arrestees are housed at the Oxnard facility on a limited basis.
